Backyard Monsters

Reaching social gamers
beyond Facebook

THE SCOOP

Kixeye (formerly Casual Collective) came to Viximo with a proven track record of publishing successful social games on Facebook. Their marquee hit, Backyard Monsters, needed to find a fresh audience that could add to their userbase without consuming substantial resources. With one simple integration, Viximo was able to bring Backyard Monsters beyond Facebook and onto social networks in Brazil, Spain, and Germany.

THE PROCESS

After only two weeks of integration, Backyard Monsters was ready to be distributed to Viximo’s network of social sites that span across the globe, from Orkut to Tuenti. Not only did Viximo handle the technical integration, but the translation and marketing was also customized for each social network where the game was launched.  Today Backyard Monsters is published on six social networks within the Viximo portfolio, and has grown into one of the most globally successful games in the industry.

THE REWARDS

With Viximo, Backyard Monsters’ Daily Active Users (DAUs) has increased by nearly 30%, and the game’s stickiness (DAU/MAU) is actually 50% higher on some sites compared to Facebook. Further, Backyard Monsters’ success has dispelled the myth that social games appeal only to a female audience - their base of players on Tuenti is nearly two-thirds male (who, incidentally, monetize at twice the rate of their female players).
